This book reveals the exceptional journey of Emile Allais, the pioneer of French skiing. He was a ski champion, avant-garde designer and creator of ski resorts.
Jean-Claude Killy once said of Emile “he has opened the way, cleared the path like a snow plough . . . His were the original ideas for the conception of the ski areas, their upkeep and the security of the runs, ski equipment . . .” This elegant and smiling man, died over 100 years ago in October 2012, after a long life on the ski tracks.
This book was written in homage to her Father by Karen and Gilles Chappaz. A new edition is available with new illustrations, an additional chapter as well as Jean-Claude Killy’s moving preface.
