We share our best tips with you in this article!
LAC BLANC STARTING FROM TRÉ-LE-CHAMP
Is the Flégère cable car out of order? Head to the Lac Blanc starting from Tré-le-Champ. The hike is about 3 hours with a medium level of difficulty. Don’t forget to wear hiking shoes, to pack some water and possibly some snacks, as well as some warm clothes even during the summer.
You can get to Tré-le-Champ by car and park there. Then, head south and take the marked trail that goes up into the forest. Be sure to follow the Lac Blanc signs at every intersection. After a succession of twists and turns, leading up to the Aiguillette d’Argentière, keep climbing towards the Lac Blanc using the ladders that protrude from the rocky surface. You will progress past the Crête de la Tête aux Vents and reach the Grand Balcon Sud which forms a crossroads. The Lacs Supérieurs des Chéserys form the last leg of the journey before a leisurely stroll around the Lac Blanc. After one final slope, a ladder, and a safe stairway, you will arrive at your destination. Get some rest at the Lac Blanc Refuge and enjoy a drink whilst admiring the magnificence of the Mont Blanc.
HEAD TO THE LAC BLANC THROUGH THE COL DES MONTETS
Would you prefer to try a different route? Then you’ll love discovering the Lac Blanc through the Col des Montets. This walk should take you about 4 hours, including breaks: don’t forget your camera! Starting from the parking lot in front of the Reserve’s reception chalet, follow the winding path and its 400-metre (1312-foot) drop all the way to the crossroads where it meets the Tré-le-Champ trail. Don’t worry, only the first hour of the journey will be that hard! The whole way there, you will enjoy an impressive 360° view between the Mont Blanc Massif and the Aiguilles Rouges. The path keeps twisting and turning up until you reach a headland that faces the Glacier d’Argentière. As you continue moving forward, you will get to contemplate the Chéserys Lakes along a cairn-lined path and finally reach the Tré-le-Champ trail that will take you to the Lac Blanc.
Be sure to enquire about trail conditions by calling the Office de Haute-Montagne or the Chamoniarde before your departure.
